These are high-quality, tested, NOS tubes. The 5844 is listed universally as a 6J6 equivalent, but it is a different tube. In construction, the 5844 may be superior to both the 6J6 and 5964. This is because the 5844 uses separate cathodes for both triode sections, including a totally-enclosed plate structure. The grids are exposed on the outer edges of the 6J6 and 5064 tubes. One might think that would mean that the 5844 was more resistant to interference/hum. Unfortunately, I haven't noticed that to be the case. Nevertheless, some of you may find some advantages to the construction. Perhaps more important thatn tube construction, please note that the 5844 is rated for a lower plate voltage (175V) than the Torpedo's plate voltage (200+V). So, use of this tube in the Torpedo will slightly overdrive the tubes. So, the sound quality will definitely be different. It's up to you to decide whether that's better or worse - welcome to tube rolling!

Each tube has been personally checked for defects, the glass cleaned, and the pins straightened/cleaned. They are guaranteed to work in your Torpedo, or return them for replacement (shipping not included).
