This is it! The BantamDAC Printed Circuit Board. TooleAudio has designed perhaps the smallest layout yet for a DIY-version of the PCM2702 DAC. When built, this device (DAC) will perform the same function as an off-board stereo sound card from a Windows PC (but hopefully quieter and with more high-fidelity than typical on-board sound cards). Installation is plug and play on all major Windows PCs and no software or programming is required. Full details and building construction may be found on the BantamDAC website.

Despite its small size, the BantamDAC is a complete, USB-powered version of the PCM2702 DAC circuit, complete with fully-regulated 3.3V digital and 4.75V analog power supplies. Pads are provided for film cap output couplers, providing great detail and frequency response. The same output pads may be used for Black Gate and other boutique electrolytics. The entire BantamDAC can be built for $25-$30!

Because of its small size, there is even an option brewing to build these as a Bantam-CableDAC. Watch for details on the BantamDAC website! Also, watch for news on a few special, but optional parts for the BantamDAC - soon to be carried on Beezar!!

Board Construction: 1oz copper on an 0.062" (1.6mm) FR4 dielectric

Please note: because of the dual compatibility with REG101 chips, there are differences in the pads for the parts surrounding the IC2 (4.75V) regulator. If TPS chips are used, R7 and R8 are not used.
